Community Empowerment Clinics
Community Empowerment Clinics are not resource fairs! Our empowerment clinics, co-hosted with Fuerza Latina and Poudre Libraries, are aimed to disrupt a cycle that traps community members in an endless cycle of service provision!
Community Empowerment Clinics are culturally attuned spaces built for the community and by the community in which people can meet the goals they have in their life for mobility, joy and liberation. Lunch and kids activities are provided, and all organizations participating exercise language justice. During the four-hour, quarterly workshop space, community members receive presentations and trainings on a number of topics such as immigration legal issues, workplace rights and workforce development opportunities.
Following presentations and trainings, attendees and volunteer leaders can visit different stations to make progress on their personal goals. Resources provided are wellness support such as vaccines and medical checks, tax assistance, immigrant legal support, housing support (both rent assistance and legal support). Participants can receive information on starting a small business, workforce navigation support, help with applying for a driver’s license or navigating their children’s educational opportunities.
Each Community Empowerment Clinic is a celebration in which former participants become the leaders of future events, and in which everyone feels safe, supported, and joy and dignity are centered. If your organization is interested in participating, reach out!
